News :PM Tusk announces income tax abolition for returning Poles

In an effort to encourage Polish immigrants to return home, Prime Minister Donald Tusk promised not to collect taxes from immigrants  if they had paid taxes abroad. Tusk, together with Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski, announced the measure Thursday at a Warsaw press conference.  The tax abolition law would apply to those Poles who paid taxes overseas since 2002. "The state will reimburse those who have been subject to double taxation," Tusk said.  Rostowski placed the impact of the new tax abolition law on state coffers at $90.2 million   Source: AHN Media Corp 2008-04-03
